According to the "new" specifications, in Cebit 2007, there are three kids of networks: Wireless LAN (Local Area Network), well known as wifi, protocols IEEE 802.11a, b ou g; Wireless PAN (Personal Area Network), known as Bluetooth; and Wireless WAN (Wide Area Network) - the new technology that allows you to install a mobile phone chip in your laptop computer and connect to the internet as well as send sms messages. Sources says that the speed of this new technology could reach 3.6 Mbps, but it will depends on the carrier of your choice. According to FRANCISCO MADUREIRA, Editor of UOL Tecnologia, at Cebit they are reaching something between 1 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps.
